I am that person that tries to bring their camera with them everywhere they go, when I am out on nature hikes, a walk around town, or traveling a little farther. I try to notice things that other people might write off as ordinary and overlook. I try to take moments and see if there is something more that might be worth remembering. I make “boring” photographs, because I want to appreciate the alternatives in life, and I don’t want to overlook what just might be fascinating.
I have been using my camera to photograph places and things, and occasionally people. I am a big fan of the great landscape photographers, street photographers, and abstract expressionists. I like to find the scenes resembling or analogous to "epic mountain vistas" or the richness and design of color field paintings while out on any nature hike or urban walk. I spent decades of my life in the concrete jungle admiring street photographers, who might ideally photograph in the big city, and now I want to bring what I have been admiring, and hopefully learning from, into other environments.
When looking at my photographs I hope the viewer can look back and remember the last time you went to the lake, walked through your neighborhood park, or saw something new for the first time. I look for the unusual brilliance and the lesser observed everywhere I am, from the urban park to that big river that is fun to visit. Please take the time to enjoy the moments when life would otherwise pass you by, be grateful, and go for a walk.
